Antly probably thinks our good form is due to US government spooks infiltrating the premiership to bring down rich Arab billionaires causing in order to unsettle the Middle East oil economy leading to a profitable war for the Rothchilds

I haven't seen anyone mention that we play all of the following at HOME:

Man City
Arsenal
Man Utd
Spurs

Win those and we will be going very close!

Re: Next six games
If we won the next 2 games, which is a possibility, and not that remote.

Then the press will say that we can win the league.

Beating Having not lost in 11, winning their last 5 and beating Man City (and we will be undoubtedly be less than 7 points off the top).

People will look at Feb fixtures.. and it'll be

'how far can this team go'

Of course we get a point, or less from the next 2 and it will be a huge focus on feb to make sure we get a top 6 place.

Either way, its fucking exciting.

As this has Lawro as the icon, we need a Lawro prediction for the games?

Here we go

No, I look forward to JANUARY, when it's all over.

Due to the closeness in the league, there will be a lot more 6-pointers and that will have more of an impact that in previous seasons.

The movement of teams playing another within 3 points of themselves will have a very big impact.

Are you Micael Owen in disguise?

Re: Next six games
I had a play with one "what-if" scenario and, as I watched teams bounce up and down the league, what did stand out is that the schedule will play a much bigger part than in previous years - A European place (or relegation) may well hang on the outcome of a few "6-pointers".

The movement of teams playing another within 3 points of themselves will have a very big impact.

We're close enough to the end of the season to start fleshing-out some "what-if" scenarios, even though the actual scores in the remaining games remain pretty random, the likelr results are more easily computable.

Mathematically, Aston Villa can still win the league, although we all KNOW that will never happen this season.

Every match where we don't drop points wipes away a few more of the "relegation flavoured" what-ifs increasing the chance of finishing higher up the table. Every corresponding match in which our closest rivals (above or below) drop points has the same effect, albeit only by about 5%,

In less than 2 months (1 if results fall the "correct way") it will be confirmed that Villa can't, after all win the league and the talk will be all about when none of the bottom 3 can catch US (even though nobody is giving relegation a consideration).

At that time (roughly after the 6 mentioned games, I suspect), the "What-ifs" suggesting lower-to-mid table finish will be outnumbered by those suggesting a top half finish.

It's NOT "getting ahead of ourselves", it's basic probability, simply derived from a set of knowable conditions.

Good god you're boring Ronald. It is ok to be a bit excited, to dream about what might be and actually get carried away every now and then.

Do you look forward to Christmas? Or do you just try and take December one day at a time?

Ronald_antly 11:39 Thu Jan 14
Re: Next six games
People do get a bit carried away on here.

I'll take it one game at a time.

If our defence is solid from the start, we will get a draw or possibly even nick a win.
However, if we come up short in defense and midfield for any period of time, Newcastle will do us!

A fellow Hammer rang Talksport last night totally convinced we were gonna win the league. Hope he isn't reading this Geep, you'd have totally burst his bubble, as it were.

Re: Next six games
If you consider the away for of the teams for our three home games, Man City are 4/10 for wins, Sunderland are 2/11 and Villa 1/11.

For our away games the home form of the teams we play is as follows, Newcastle are 2/11 for wins, Southampton 5/11 and Norwich 4/10.

Statistically then the hardest games to get points will be away to Southamptom, home to Man City and away to Norwich.

Re: Next six games
Beat Man City, lose the rest...

Don't actually think that's the most likely outcome, but who'd be surprised?
